1.Tell us why anyone would want come to your hometown?
Having lost my young cousin to brain cancer, I have dedicated my life to helping children in medical crisis. My decade of service as a spokesperson, volunteer and fundraiser have honed my communication and speaking skills, teaching me humility and compassion, the qualities I feel best represent the International system.
2.What are the (2) most important things in your closet and why?
When I tell people that I’ve trained and coached a competitive championship robotics team for the past five years, they are very surprised! In fact, my team of 8th graders is headed to the World Robotics Championship, hoping to bring the 2010 title home to the United States!
3.What do you love to cook and why?
My grandmother always told me that being happy is the key to a long life and that laughter is the best medicine! Laughter fills my home resulting in a happy, healthy me. Of course, I eat right and exercise too, but that’s just part of my own personal healthy equation.
4.If you had an extra hour each day, what would you do?
Family values are as individual as families themselves. For my family, we define our values by high morals, hard work, determination to succeed, compassion for others and commitment to community service. These strong values are the legacy my husband and I give to our children and their future.
5.Describe the dirtiest job you have ever had to do?
Never saying “no” to any volunteer opportunity is my worst habit. As I’ve learned to balance my volunteer work, I’ve realized that I’ve inspired others to step forward, volunteering their time too. I’ve found that duplicating my volunteer efforts, through others, allows me to say “yes” to many volunteer opportunities.
