1. Which celebrity do you think you look like?
If I were famous, my stage name would be Yaz Soca —inspired by my Trinidadian roots and deep love for Carnival. Soca is more than music; it’s bold storytelling, joyful expression, and unapologetic freedom. That name would capture my spirit: colorful, faith-filled, and ready to light up any room. Plus, if a sparkly costume and soca music is involved… count me in!

2. Which do your prefer? Talking on the phone or texting?
If I could attend any celebrity wedding, it would be Lilly Singh’s, even though she’s not engaged yet! I admire her trailblazing spirit and commitment to culture, representation, and empowerment. From late-night TV to owning a WNBA team, she leads with purpose and authenticity. Her wedding would be more than a celebration, it would be a joyful reflection of the legacy she’s building. And honestly, I’d love to dance at that reception!

3. What’s something you only do when you get bored?
The weirdest gift I ever received was on a mission trip in South Africa. A woman gifted me a handmade clay candle holder “for my husband and me,” but I had only been dating my boyfriend for one month then. I smiled, said thank you, and quietly thought, “Not quite yet!” Little did I know that man would become my husband later that year. It was unexpected—maybe even prophetic—and a reminder that others can see God’s plan before we do.

4. Are you overly loyal to any clothing brands?
There are Roman-style bathtubs beneath the U.S. Capitol that senators once used before indoor plumbing was widespread! I discovered this while working for a United States Senator years ago, before I pivoted into education and ministry. It’s a quirky reminder that even in the most powerful places, there’s always something unexpected beneath the surface, just like in life.

5. What is the biggest risk you have ever taken?
I’ll never hike the Narrows at Zion National Park in my Teva sandals again! The water was knee-deep, the rocks were slick, and my feet were screaming by the end. It was a stunning experience, but let’s just say I learned that adventure is best enjoyed with the right gear!
