Toni Joerres - On-Line Voting Winner
1.Tell us why anyone would want come to your hometown?
What set’s me apart are the opportunities through service with Rotary International. I’ve traveled around the world and have been exposed to a number of varied religions, cultures, customs and nationalities. Each friendship opened my heart, my soul and my mind and taught me to appreciate and value our differences.
2.What are the (2) most important things in your closet and why?
I have an adventurous side. My ‘bucket list’ includes: skydiving, flying with the U.S. Thunderbirds, ‘pushing Gs’ in an F-16, taking a real rollercoaster ride. I’d love to ride in a NASCAR at over 200mph and participate in a NASA space camp program. I’m a bit of an "adrenaline junkie"!
3.What do you love to cook and why?
My opinion, you are what you eat, literally. I got educated and learned how to read and understand nutritional labels. For me, exercise is my meditation. I make at least 30 minutes a day for “me” time. I take walks, bike rides, or complete a workout video. I keep moving!
4.If you had an extra hour each day, what would you do?
Family values are instilled at a young age. The best way to teach, right from wrong, respect for yourself and others, is to lead by example. The true test comes when our values are challenged. Rising to the occasion and staying true to ourselves is when our family values shine.
5.Describe the dirtiest job you have ever had to do?
I let my perfectionist tendencies get the best of me trying to be “Superwomen”. It’s difficult juggling household chores, a full-time job, earning my Master’s, community service, church, “me” time and sleep. I stay true to myself, take it one day at a time and always do my very best.
