1. Which celebrity do you think you look like?
Endless potential. Educating those around me about infertility and empowering them to become advocates for those impacted is my mission for my year as Mrs. International. As Mrs. Ohio, I obtained two proclamations recognizing National Infertility Awareness Week in my city and state. Taking that first step in creating awareness statewide and gaining support from our state and local officials validated the passion within me to want to continue to create change.
2. Which do your prefer? Talking on the phone or texting?
My husband showed me his kindness from the second time we met when I asked him if he remembered me when we met six months prior. Although he didn’t, he said he did anyway. He showed me how patient he could be when I denied his persistent inquiries for a year to date. For the 10 years that we’ve been together, his unconditional love has been an example of what a husband should be.
3. What’s something you only do when you get bored?
Growing up next door to my grandparents allowed me to have some extra special moments with them. I spent many summer nights sitting outside with my grandfather on his red bench. We would talk about his childhood, stories from his time in the service, what I was doing in school and my aspirations. I would love to have another conversation now to tell him about my life, my son and how I’m serving others.
4. Are you overly loyal to any clothing brands?
High school allowed me to connect with different groups of people through the activities I was involved including cheer, track and field, band, orchestra, and class officer. Those unique connections taught me that kindness, respect, and trust are the greatest virtues for someone to possess to be able to create connections with anyone.
5. What is the biggest risk you have ever taken?
Our experience with infertility shifted our perspective to what matters most for us; valuing experiences over material possessions. The past several years we’ve chosen to forgo exchanging gifts for major holidays. Instead, we create memorable experience for us to talk about for years to come. I would plan an amazing experience for him that would involve our passports, tickets to a sporting event and a Rick Steve’s self-guided tour.
