Alicia Dalton-Tingler - 1st Runner-Up
1. Which celebrity do you think you look like?
I wish I’d learned healthier eating habits earlier in life. I ate exclusively for enjoyment until 2012. That year I learned I have Graves’ Disease, an autoimmune disease that, among other things, increases metabolism. After my diagnosis, everything changed. I learned about food choice and portion size, and I’m grateful because the health benefits have been amazing.
2. Which do your prefer? Talking on the phone or texting?
I don’t fear the future, I’m excited about it! I can’t wait to see what new technology, medical interventions, and movements shake our world.
3. What’s something you only do when you get bored?
I love the stories that result from travel – particularly from the mishaps. They make for the best stories years later. I love the tale of a 1998 vacation when we threw caution to the wind and booked an oceanfront hotel online – cutting edge technology at the time. Once we arrived, we couldn’t find our hotel. That’s because we were in Ocean City, Maryland. Our hotel room was in Ocean City, New Jersey.
4. Are you overly loyal to any clothing brands?
I love the gratitude that I’ve gained. In my youth, I often took for granted the things that I now treasure: my faith, my health, my family, and unconditional love. Life’s experiences have taught me the value of these things that now reside at the top of my priority list.
