What's the most sensible thing you've ever heard someone say?
As a young girl when my father died at 27 from diabetes, I wish I had realized the importance of good nutrition and exercise. I was morbidly obese the majority of my life. I took control of my body and how I would choose to spend each day honoring the gift God gave me. My husband and I now spend our couple time together daily in the gym, kayaking and living a healthy lifestyle.

What gets you excited about life?
Having a son with autism, a spouse with PTSD, and employed in the mental health field the past decade, I see far too often how society as a whole categorizes our citizens with mental health issues. I worry for my son to not be defined by the societal label. I feel that people see violent acts and in an attempt to make sense of them immediately look to whether mental illness was the cause.

If you had to teach something what would you teach?
I absolutely LOVE road trips! Living in Alaska 28 years I discovered so many beautiful treasures across the state. Now in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota I am in awe of the beauty in every direction. I love having the endless talks with my husband and kids and I think it reconnects us all being "un-plugged" and enjoying each other's company. Even if we are looking at the worlds largest ball of twine!

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?
I am 56 and I love where I am in my life. I treasure being able to look back on the memories of my children at every stage of their lives and accomplishments. I have 5 year old a granddaughter and I am absolutely IN LOVE with being called GRANDMA! My life's experiences are the sum of who I am today and I would not change one single thing!
