Jocelyn Lomahan

For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
Eating frogs. Mark Twain said if its your job to eat a frog, its best to do it first thing. The habit I wish I started earlier is not procrastinating and doing everything on my to-do list, starting with the most difficult. Often, we procrastinate due to fear. I wish I overcame fear easier by tackling challenges head on. With age and experience comes confidence and the courage to just go for it.

What is the biggest change you want to make in your life?
With so many distractions, I worry that my childrens generation will lack focus on their goals and not take steps they need to in order to accomplish them. I worry that future generations will be afraid to exercise their religious freedom due to fear. And I am concerned that human interaction will be limited because we are so busy being busy that we lose the art of face-to-face conversation.

What do you think is the best feeling in the world?
I love the adventure of traveling, from getting on a plane and sitting next to a stranger who could end up being a friend to trying new foods, to appreciating what makes different areas special. Traveling makes me remember that its a small world and yet theres so much to see and do. Traveling makes me want to create memories and collect experiences rather than material possessions.

What was the single, best realization you have ever had?
I love the age that I am because I have gained many life experiences. My children are more independent. I am proud of my accomplishments in my career and volunteer positions. I am confident and comfortable in my skin and care less about what others think of me. I love that my husband and I have been in love more than half of our lives and that we still get to grow old together.
