5 THINGS YOU WANT US TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY
1. YES... I am currently in the United States Navy! I am proud that I have had nine great years serving our country. In 2008 I was deployed to Iraq, and I was first introduced to "The Invisible War" of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In 2009, my husband also deployed, but did not return the same man. Since then, I have been an advocate for various organizations championing research and treatment options.
2. Being raised in New Mexico, we took a lot of extended road trips; I think that's why I love to travel! I have been to 39 states, I have visited over 23 different countries around the world. My favorite one must be Curacao, Northern Antilles (an island off the coast of Venezuela) because of its immaculately beautiful beaches, diverse culture, and humbling surroundings.
3. I have been an athlete all of my life and I have become quite the sports fanatic! I have been playing volleyball since I was six, and adore coaching to mentor young athletes. I play four days a week- I just can't get enough! My second favorite sports obsession is the NFL; I love my 49ers! I truly feel the competitive spirit helps me set and achieve goals... maybe that's why I love pageants!
4. My grandmother is a professional seamstress, and I definitely have her genes! I love to design, sew, and refurbish vintage clothing, costumes, and gowns! I was thrilled that I was able to create an original gown and wear it during the 2013 Mrs. International pageant!
