Judy Ridenour - 1st Runner-Up

1. I am a Federal Law Enforcement officer with the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. My title is Discipline Hearing Officer Assistant. While working on my masters degree in college, I never, in a million years, thought to myself, I want to work in a level 7 federal penitentiary!! I enjoy my job and am proud to be a protector of our communities and the world.

2. I am very proud mother of three beautiful daughters, ages 7, 8, and 13. My husband is my best friend. He is my biggest supporter! We are very proud of our group of talented girls. Between the three of them, we are involved in track, cheerleading, gymnastics, dance, girl scouts, and piano. We love to stay very active together. Our favorite family activity is having trampoline competitions to see who can pull the coolest stunts!

3. I absolutely love being active in my community and the great state of West Virginia. I am a youth church leader, a Girl Scout troop leader, and volunteer with many organizations such as; PURR West Virginia, the West Virginia Childrens Forensic Science Initiative, Chestnut Mountain Ranch, and am the founder of a winter clothing/blanket drive; project COAT (Covering Our Area Together).

4. Our biggest passion is JDRF. Its not just a platform; its my familys life. My daughter was diagnosed with diabetes at age 5. We immediately became mathematicians, dieticians, and physicians. After speaking to JDRF, I knew I had to be involved with them! I am now a JDRF International Advocate and a spokesperson for JDRF. I will be attending the JDRF conference at the nations capital. We are working on creating world without diabetes!
