1. Which celebrity do you think you look like?
Monticello is the heartbeat of Southeast Arkansas and is located within driving distance of several important cities. You can easily travel to many local historic sites, then have a burger with a shake at Ray’s Restaurant. While you’re here, don’t forget to take a tour of UAM and purchase your ticket to watch the Boll Weevils play football. Our wish is that you find hospitality in abundance and once you visit, you’ll want to stay!
2. Which do your prefer? Talking on the phone or texting?
One item is a jacket that my grandmother had picked up from the dry cleaners just before she passed away from CoVid-19. It still has the hint of her perfume and a small lipstick stain they couldn’t quite get out. The second, while not a typical “closet item” is a Bible that belonged to my grandfather with all his handwritten notes. It may be brittle but it’s still full of love, life and wisdom.
3. What’s something you only do when you get bored?
I learned a recipe for shrimp tortellini in college and it is our favorite! Anytime we are celebrating this recipe is always requested and it makes me feel so good to know it means just as much to them as it does to me. When prepared just right, it has the perfect pairing of sweet and spicy. The cream sauce mixed with the cheese in the tortellini warms the heart and heals the soul.
4. Are you overly loyal to any clothing brands?
Given an extra hour, I would simply slow down. Time is the one thing we can never get back and I’ve learned just how truly precious it is. I aim to savor these fleeting moments before life steals my babies away and transforms them into adults. While we can’t turn back the clock, we can sure make the best of what we’ve got. We can prioritize what truly holds significance by simply slowing down.
5. What is the biggest risk you have ever taken?
We own a small herd of cattle and taking care of our livestock means we also vaccinate. I don’t think any conversation could have prepared me for just how dirty you get from working with cattle of all sizes. From the babies to the bulls, from baling hay to feeding, both in the winter and summer months, it can be a heartbreaking season but seeing the baby calves play together brings us so much joy!
