Danielle Irwin - Top 15 - People's Choice Winner

People's Choice Award

1. Which celebrity do you think you look like?
I bribed my husband to attend a baby shower with me. The shower theme was white and my husband’s only pair of white pants were a few years old. During one of the games, his shorts ripped all the way up the crotch. Thankfully I noticed before anyone else did (I hope) or if they did they were too embarrassed to say anything!

2. Which do your prefer? Talking on the phone or texting?
The dinner table is the most important thing in our kitchen. It is where the family gathers to eat, pray and have conversations. Plans are made, problems are solved, and arguments are squashed at the table. The second is my coffee maker! I am synonymous with coffee. My americano with coconut milk and cinnamon power is a ritual that I thoroughly enjoy. Sipping on coffee makes me slow down, relax, and dwell in gratitude.

3. What’s something you only do when you get bored?
People tend to think that I am a lot younger than I am. I teach foundational construction skills so I am plain faced and in steelies a lot of the time. Its after they learn the age of my children and about my professional accomplishments that people connect the dots.

4. Are you overly loyal to any clothing brands?
I lead by example, and in trying times, the toughest person to motivate can sometimes be myself. I am blessed with a kuleana (responsibility) that provides hope for my community, however it sometimes feels like a lot to carry. My daily discipline is grounding myself in God at the start of each day. Self-leadership and personal disciplines, anchored in self-love, are skills I teach in my development program, the Aloha Multiplier.

5. What is the biggest risk you have ever taken?
Hot air ballooning, sky diving or base jumping. I am not afraid of heights, and I love extreme sports; however, timing has yet to work out. I had plans to skydive about 12 years ago, and then I learned I was pregnant. My perspectives have changed since I became a mother. Life is bigger than me, and wild risk-taking isn't a priority. When the kids are older, and if I am still interested, I will.
