Ori Ann Li

Ori Ann believes in giving back to her community.  For many years, she has dedicated her time to volunteerism and community service.  She has two special passions in life: helping children and animals.  She has been a volunteer at the “Hawaiian Humane Society” for five years.  She is the spokesperson for “Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii”, co-founder of H.A.W.A.I.I. (Hawaii’s Animal Welfare Alliance, Internationally Incorporated), and a committed advocate for two national organizations, “Humane Society of the United States” and “Farm Sanctuary”.  Studies have shown animal abuse is often a precursor to violence against people.  Ori Ann’s platform, humane education, examines the links between animal abuse, child abuse and domestic violence.

Ori Ann comes from a long line of scholars, poets and calligraphers.  Her family lineage traces back to Tang Dynasty China (c. 600 AD).  She volunteered as a docent at art museums in remembrance of her late grandfather whose life long passion was classical literature and fine art.  Ori Ann enjoys gardening, hiking, swimming, reading and dancing hula.  She is a former journalist, model and college instructor with a master’s degree in Theatre. She is currently a free-lance Chinese translator, gourmet cook and guest host for a popular television cooking segment in Hawaii.
