Randa Allen ~ Top Ten Finalist

Mrs. Illinois International 2007, Randa Allen, holds degrees in both Elementary Education and Education for the Hearing Impaired.  She has taught Kindergarten, served as a Reading Coach, is fluent in American Sign Language and has a license in cosmetology.

Randa's platform is "Beating Cancer Beautifully." She serves as a volunteer and group leader for the "Look Good... Feel Better” program that is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Association.

Randa became involved with “Look Good… Feel Better” four years before she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  As a cancer patient she was invited to attend a session and it was there she realized a deeper understanding of this service program.

“Look Good…Feel Better” has helped 370, 000 women.  However, compared to the national statistics for women with cancer that means only 1 out of 13 women know this program exist.

Randa’s plan of action is to increase awareness about this service to the general public, doctors, cancer care centers and hospitals so that every woman that faces cancer has the tools and resources to fight their cancer with dignity.

Randa continues to serve as a group leader and has appeared as a guest on “Show Me St.Louis”, been the featured speaker at several events sponsored by the American Cancer Society, recently walked as a survivor in the Survivor’s Lap, was the guest speaker at a Relay for Life in her area, recognized by the mayor of O’Fallon as an outstanding citizen and featured in the weekly publication the O’Fallon Progress.

Most recently she has secured corporate sponsors that will allow her to travel to the international LGFB conference in late fall.

Other upcoming events include being the keynote speaker at a “Cook for the Cure” fundraiser, and serving as emcee for the “Gala of Giving” ball.
