1. Which celebrity do you think you look like?
I’ve encountered many obstacles in my life and have come across more “you can’t do that's than I care to admit due to having Type One Diabetes (T1D). Every one of these experiences makes me push hard everyday to prove T1D doesn’t hold me back and it never stops me from achieving my goals.
2. Which do your prefer? Talking on the phone or texting?
My absolute favorite days are when my husband, diabetic alert dog and I go exploring. We usually never have a set agenda – we just go wherever we feel like going at that given time. Walk around the lake? To a dog park? The movies? Disc golfing? Who knows! Any given day is completely different. And we always have a great time.
3. What’s something you only do when you get bored?
Beyond Type 1 created a social media channel where T1Ds support one another during the daily challenges of controlling blood sugars. Sometimes this proves frustrating and sometimes T1D can even be isolating - this channel allows T1Ds to connect in a way we never could before. I participate in this channel daily sharing my own struggles, but also using my 18 years of T1D experience to give advice and support for those who need it.
4. Are you overly loyal to any clothing brands?
Honestly? Besides for my husband and diabetic alert dog, I’d have to say my medical supplies, with insulin being the most treasured. Everything in my home can be replaced, but I can’t survive without my insulin!
