How do your personal / unique qualities best fit the International Pageant system? I have a tremendous passion for life, learning and leadership. I have a deep conviction that not only can one person make a difference, but that every person with their unique gifts & talents has a sacred responsibility to make the greatest difference they can.
What is something that few people know about you? I was born in England, lettered in 4 sports in high school, haven’t watched television in twenty years, eat twice as much food as my husband, and was such a tomboy that a girl mistakenly asked me to dance. I have had long hair ever since.
What do you do to stay healthy? I run up and down stairs with a basket of laundry under one arm and a 2-year old in the other. I swim with a 5 year old mermaid and jump on the tramp with two boys. I believe happiness is a balance of healthy choices mixed with chocolate.
Everyone talks about "family values", what are they? To me, they are seeing a child pray, a dad wrapping his arms around his teen, serving a neighbor, listening intently, celebrating the success of a sibling, forgiving a spouse quickly, family dinners, reading to a child and looking for the good. I believe values are best learned when lived.
What is your worst habit? Why? I throw everything away. My mind is much clearer when my home is clutter free. However, my husband says I may be a bit “too clutter free” especially at times when he has walked back into the house after retrieving some of “his stuff” out of the garbage. Whoops.
